I have been a volunteer at the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse for ten years. I have friends who volunteer at other places who do not have the incredible and very flexible scheduling arrangement that we have.

Welcome to Ponce Inlet, where the sun meets the sea, and the aroma of delicious food fills the air! As Bike Week rolls into town, riders and enthusiasts are in for a treat not only with the roar of engines but also with the delectable culinary delights awaiting them.

Did you catch a glimpse of Brad Pitt here in Volusia County a few weeks ago? If not, we promise you’ll see a lot of even bigger stars, and planets, too, at the National Historic Landmark Ponce Inlet Lighthouse during the 11th Annual Museum at Night on February 16 from 5:00 pm to 8 pm. And you won’t necessarily have to climb the 203 steps of the lighthouse tower to do so, although that’ll be a fun and encouraged option also.

As it turns out, Florida had established several smaller counties that were later given new names, either because the old one proved unappealing, or the citizens found something they liked better. The best example of the “unappealing” appellation has got to be Mosquito County, the historic name of an early county that once comprised most of the eastern part of Florida.

Ponce Inlet Lighthouse and Museum Lead Docent John Mann will present “ALEXANDER HAMILTON – THE FATHER OF AMERICA’S LIGHTHOUSES” at the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse Thursday at the Tower Series on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 11:00 am in the lighthouse conference room.

The first Mosquito Inlet Lighthouse built by the United States was located on a dune southside of what is considered by many to still be the most treacherous inlet on the East Coast of the country.
